Hi, I'm Ruby Rae, a multidiciplinary artist, Mama, and yogi based in Taos New Mexico; here to live a creative life and share the love. For me, living an artful life means creative problem solving, finding personal meaning through making, and constant curiosity to the inner experience. My creative process is one of self discovery that allows space for the spirit to speak and for the outcome to be different than the inital onset. This helps me to practice approching life with a sense of wonder and teaches me to enjoy all of life's little surprises. Much of the time, my creating is like a digestion process for my lived experience and vice versa. Both life and art are food for the soul.
I often use natural or recycled materials in the art that I make. These help me to feel more aligned with my Mama Earth and my own body. Making paint with found earth pigments, dying fiber with plants, and sculpting with clay are some of the ways I allow the magic of nature to come through my work. Storytelling is also an artform that I find quite powerful and has been honored as a long standing tradition in my family. We love to tell and listen to long stories teaching lived experience, finding humor and the strength to overcome life's many struggles. I believe that life and art align for us to observe the beauty of this existence.
I also have various creative projects and collaborations that are my service to my community and others. This includes local mural paintings, dying and sewing period panties for ladies, and offering creative empowerment exersices to pregnant women. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about my art or services or seek collaboration.
